Green Building Certificates
Victoria Garden Mews has received the highest certifications possible from two prestigious green building rating systems:
Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is a non-profit coalition of leaders from across the building industry dedicated to promoting environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. USGBC developed LEED ? (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) to establish a common standard of measurement and promote integrated, whole-building design practices. LEED is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. To ensure the health, profitability and environmental integrity of these buildings and their systems, LEED certification requires independent, third-party verification. Victoria Garden Mews has received a Certified Platinum Rating under the LEED for Homes rating system, which promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes.
Built Green Santa Barbara
Built Green Santa Barbara is a voluntary, building program designed to create market distinction for builders and architects who incorporate green building practices into their projects. The program offers 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-Star levels that are self-certifying. Victoria Garden Mews received a 5-Star rating – the highest rating possible - which requires building energy efficiency of a minimum 40% better than current California Energy Standards (Title 24) and Third Party Verification.
Sustainable SITES Initiative
The Sustainable SITES Initiative (SITES), developed by the United States Botanical Garden, American Society of Landscape Architects and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center has chosen Victoria Garden Mews to be one of 154 projects around the world to participate in their pilot program. SITES measures the sustainability of landscape design, construction and maintenance projects through a rating system based on 5 levels: basic certification, 1-,2-,3- or 4-Star levels. Feedback from this and the other selected projects participating in the pilot program, which runs through June 2012, will be used to revise the final rating system and reference guide by early 2013. The U.S. Green Building Council, a stakeholder in the Sustainable Sites Initiative?, anticipates incorporating the guidelines and performance benchmarks into future iterations of its LEED? Green Building Rating System.
Rating pending for Summer 2012
