On February 26, 2009, Allen Associates, Thompson Naylor Architects, and HartmanBaldwin design/build, Inc. staged a successful groundbreaking ceremony for the three condominiums residences.
Dignitaries and speakers included Santa Barbara Mayor Marty Blum and Councilman Grant House. Dennis Allen, developer and partner in the Victoria Garden Mews LLC development kicked off the event. Dennis Thompson, architect, offered an overview on the history of the development. Partners Devon Hartman, Mary Beierle, Jennie Cushnie, and Kathy Bush were introduced along with other city council members and city officials. Joe Bush, another partner, was unable to attend the event.

This future high profile infill "Green Showcase" will offer conservation without deprivation; a tangible example of cost-effective and environmentally sensitive home building. The Project has been registered to be certified as a Platinum LEED® Project under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED® for Homes program and will receive a Five Star rating from the Santa Barbara Contractors Association's Built Green Program.
