On July 14, 2011, Allen Associates, Thompson Naylor Architects, Grace Design Associates and Victoria Garden Mews partners staged a special reception for government officials at the Victoria Garden Mews project site.
Local, county and congressional representatives attended the reception learned about the entire project and were able to tour the four residences. Attendees at the reception included: Helene Schneider, Mayor, City of Santa Barbara; Janet Wolf, Santa Barbara County Supervisor; John Jostes, Planning Commissioner, City of Santa Barbara; Charmaine Jabobs, Planning Commissioner, City of Santa Barbara; Sheila Lodge, Planning Commissioner, City of Santa Barbara; George Estrella, Chief Building Official, City of Santa Barbara; Hillary Blackerby, Representative for Assemblyman Das Williams’ office; Lisa Valencia Sherratt, Representative for County Supervisor Salud Carbajal’s office, Dennis Thompson, Thompson Naylor Architects, Project Architect; Dennis Allen, Owner and Project Contractor; and Margie Grace Project Landscape Architect.
In addition, Victoria Garden Mews partners and residents Devon Hartman and Mary Beierle; Joe and Kathy Bush, Dennis Allen and Jennie Cushnie were also in attendance.
Victoria Garden Mews project and staff members of Allen Associates, Grace Design Associates, Thompson Naylor Architects, Green Project Marketing and Devon Hartman were also on hand to assist with tours and in greeting and further educating guests about this green residential development.
Among the highlights of the event, Dennis Allen and Victoria Garden Mews partners thanked City of Santa Barbara officials that participated in various processes and supported the project. Of interest to many, was the viewing of the stacked hydraulic lift parking at the rear of the building. The beauty of the interiors of each condominium unit and the Victorian home drew quite a bit of praise too.
Sponsors were recognized throughout the project with placards which offered a brief background on the type of green and or technical specifications of each product/service provided. Each sponsor also received company name and logo identification.
