On Saturday, October 9, 2010, on an absolutely picture-perfect weather day, Santa Barbara Habitat for Humanity’s 2010 Tour of Green Homes was held.

Victoria Garden Mews’ Victorian home was selected as one of the homes on the tour. Over 100 people toured the Victorian home. In addition, a special VIP reception was held on the third floor of the condominiums now being completed. Dennis Thompson of ThompsonNaylor, Dennis Allen of Allen Associates and Margie Grace of Grace Design Associates all spoke at the special reception. Each provided their deep experience in the green building, sustainability, and the background and inside details on the Victoria Garden Mews project.

The 2010 Tour of Green Homes showcased the latest in green building techniques and materials used at several homes in Santa Barbara and Montecito as well as the Habitat San Pascual affordable housing site.

The general public was encouraged to attend if they had a passion for affordable housing, green building the environment, and gardening. Attendees learned how to incorporate green design into their homes, spoke to designers and vendors of green building materials and were educated on how green building techniques can be affordable. Also, tour patrons enjoyed a wide range of home styles from modest to grand, from contemporary to craftsman.
